Medical Scientific Writing between Pressure, Possibility, and Responsibility
My former colleagues from the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi invited me to do this workshop to share my experience working independently with medical (PhD) researchers faced with contractual pressures to publish in international journals, tight deadlines, uncertainty, and rapid technological change.

At the 2025 Open Forum of the IATEFL ESPSIG, I presented my position and encouraged discussion of how we might use AI’s reductionisms and faux-pas to spark vocabulary growth, critical thinking, and information literacy skills. I then developed this further in the TESOL webinar mentioned above.

This was the 2nd online reunion of my former and then OET clients, who joined from different countries to share their journeys and collaborate on creating effective, original OET guidance informed by real patient cases and their authentic experiences before, at, and after the exam. We called this virtual meeting place “The Prancing Dogtor” Pub (AI-generated image).

Birth of ‘Journeys into Healthcare’ and 1st ‘OET Journeys’ Roundtable
This was the 1st online reunion of my former and then OET clients, who joined from different countries to collaborate on creating effective, original OET guidance informed by real patient cases and their authentic experiences before, at, and after the exam. That is how ‘Journeys Into Healthcare’ was born and, within it, OET Journeys.

I gave this talk at the IATEFL ESPSIG Open Forum about what it’s like to move from academia to independent work, i.e., going from teaching groups of undergraduate students a predefined curriculum to helping individual professionals adaptively.

Winning the IATEFL ESP Scholarship ‘Mark Krzanowski’
I was so excited to get the news of winning this IATEFL scholarship and would be going to Edinburgh in 2025 (see above). I had approached the application as a self-assessment exercise, not to impress. I had no idea that over 1,000 people had applied for the 20 scholarships offered. ‘A Taste Of’ OET Medicine, the International Medical English Certificate You May Need to Practise Medicine Abroad
This was an on-demand, in-person workshop at Congressis 2024, the 19th International Congress for Medical Students and Young Doctors, requested after the success of similar workshops I had done at Congressis 2023 and other such events since 2019.
